yeah it's the focus that too many players put on the Net eff.  If everyone just decided that it really didn't mean much then it wouldn't.

I always get negative net when I play...well I guess not always.  Sometimes I have pos net, but never very much.  But every game I've ever been on the winning team I can honestly say it's because I covered the FC at just the right time so that we could cap which led to our victory.  That's whats more important.  Sure if you're a fraggin god that would likely happen often, but if you care more about getting the pos net chances are you won't be covering the fc very often because you'll be worried about dying and taking one for the team in the process.

I am just saying, if you are on defense then you are expected to get a positive net if you win the map.  If you have a very low net, and you are on D and your team actually fucking won, then what does that mean?  it means you did a shit job on d, and your teamates did the job for you while you returned the flag.

Maybe if you are on offense, yea then net means nothing...

Capping your flag since UT2003

either that or it means you tossed your weapons and suicided (so you had 100 health) every time you killed people and/or played a kamikaze style defense by suiciding on the efc....

In which case you could have an effective defense and still a negative net.

Or think of the extreme case in which their offense ran around just fragging you but never picking up once all game. Sure you would have a negative net, but they wouldn't have even grabbed the flag once, so is your defense bad?

Good defense is a function of keeping the flag on the stand for when you need to cap, and keeping it relatively close to your base or in it at all other moments.

True kash, very true. I guess i never really had those kind of games where the offense just plays dm, and they ignore the flag :|  cept maybe pubs, which pubs are lame.

But if its a typical game where both teams are actually playing real ctf, then obviously d will have nets of zero at least.

sooo yea enough of this Net talk lol...

Shit net on defense certainly does not mean you did poorly... that was a bad assessment max. However, this conversation shouldn't continue under this thread so I will shut up.

On Topic: \S\ynergy website is still up I believe... I don't feel like updating it anymore, but if anyone else wants to go right ahead.... http://teamsynergy.atspace.com/
